Program
The most affordable 6 week summer program in Barcelona!
The Study Abroad Experience through the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona provides you with an incredible opportunity to study intensive Spanish language, take electives in Business or Humanities, and receive credit at your home university - all without breaking the bank.
Options
The summer program at the UAB allows you to choose from a variety of courses so you can learn, improve, or perfect your Spanish as well as get credit for electives taught in English covering Humanities or Business.
Students can either take a Spanish language class + 1 elective in Humanities or Business or choose 2 electives to always add up to 6 credits in 6 weeks.
Courses
You have a wide range of courses to choose from to cover all interests and needs for credit. The UAB purposely keeps class sizes small to encourage interaction and academic rigor as well as to allow the international students to work together. Most of the courses are taught in English by local faculty, so students don't need to have any prior Spanish language skills. There are also several options for students who would like to take classes in Spanish. Please contact a Barcelona SAE advisor if you are interested in the direct enrollment option.
Spanish Language
Summer students at the UAB can take a 3 credit Spanish language course, taught at all levels and based on the on-site placement exam. Class sizes are no larger than 15 people in order to maximize learning.
Outside the classroom
Barcelona Study Abroad Experience knows that just as much learning takes place outside the classroom as inside which is why we organize several intercultural activities and excursions throughout the term.
Imagine learning a little more about the history of Spain through a cooking class, or learning about Southern Spain’s traditions while enjoying a Flamenco show. Get to know the barrios, or neighborhoods, of Barcelona in greater detail with small guided tours or scavenger hunts.
Depending on the term of your program, you will go on a weekend excursion to:
Madrid - The magnificent capital city with so much to offer from parks to tapas to museums of Spanish masters.
Costa Brava – the beautiful Catalan coast boasting seaside villages, Dalí museums, stunning scenery and Roman Ruins
Valencia – The coastal city that has re-invented itself in recent years and now offers world-renowned Arts and Sciences museum, aquarium and the home of Spain’s delicious dish – paella.
