International Business and Humanities Program at the UAB

Program

The Study Abroad Experience through the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona provides you with an incredible opportunity to study intensive Spanish language and take electives in your major, minor or general areas and receive credit at your home university.

Options

With the UAB, you can study during the fall semester, spring semester, the full academic year or a summer term.  You can also choose to study at the program designed for international students, or directly enroll alongside Spanish students.

Courses

You have a wide range of courses to choose from to cover all interests and needs for credit.  The courses are taught in Spanish or in English by local faculty, so there is no prior knowledge of Spanish necessary. The UAB purposely keeps class sizes small to encourage interaction and academic rigor as well as to allow the international students to work together.

Spanish Language

Students at the UAB during the fall or spring semester will take an intensive 90 hour language course, taught at any level and based on the on-site placement exam. The language class sizes are no more than 15 people to maximize the time spent in the classroom on an individual level.

Outside the classroom

Barcelona Study Abroad Experience knows that just as much learning takes place outside the classroom as inside which is why we organize several intercultural activities and excursions throughout the term.

Imagine learning a little more about the history of Spain through a cooking class, or learning about Southern Spain’s traditions while enjoying a Flamenco show.  Get to know the barrios, or neighborhoods, of Barcelona in greater detail with small guided tours or learn about immigration affecting the city through diversity scavenger hunts.

Depending on the term of your program, you will go on excursions to:

Madrid - The magnificent capital city with so much to offer from parks to tapas to museums of Spanish masters.

The Costa Brava – the beautiful Catalan coast boasting seaside villages, Dalí museums, stunning scenery and Roman Ruins

Valencia – The coastal city that has re-invented itself in recent years and now offers world-renowned Arts and Sciences museum, aquarium and the home of Spain’s delicious dish – paella.

San Sebastián – An incredible northern city in Spain which holds the essence of a different Spain – the Basque Country – well known for its unique history, language, traditions and culinary treats.
