Barcelona was such an unforgettable experience that I am honored to have. I learned so much about how the world works—and how I want myself to be treated. From discovering different sights in new neighborhoods to trying pintxos (tiny sandwiches with so many varieties), every day brought something new. I also ate so much pesto that it became my unofficial study abroad flavor, I am forever obsessed.
One of my favorite things was simply walking around. Each neighborhood had a totally different feeling, and I loved the freedom of exploring on my own—something I didn’t think I’d be brave enough to do before this trip. At the end of the trip, I had learned so much about the streets around the school and my dorm.
I met some incredible people who made my time a thousand percent better. We hung out often, especially on the last day, which felt peaceful and full of connection. That kind of safety and joy meant everything, ending my trip on the best note. It also made me more grateful for the genuine connections I made.
A special moment that stuck with me was a small Sant Joan celebration my neighborhood put on for kids—completely unexpected but so full of life and joy.
By the end, I could walk some of the city without Google Maps. I learned to trust myself, spread positivity, and focus on the people who really matter. If I could tell my past self one thing: save more, stress less, and lead with light.
