My summer adventure in Barcelona has just begun and I already have a feeling the next few weeks will change my life.

From the moment I stepped off the plane at El Prat Airport, to the meeting my homestay family, to an interactive orientation, the cross-cultural adjustment has been pleasantly painless. Well, my airline left my bag in America so bummer there but even that has done little to dampen my initial Spanish experience. 😉

The adorable apartment I’m living in has every commodity I need including laundry, two meals a day, a comfortable room and space to store my stuff. I even have a cute little balcony that I eat breakfast on every morning! My home stay “mama” is SO precious; she cooks my roommates and I some wonderful local food and talks to us in Spanish about what it’s like to live in this vibrant, historic city.

Getting adjusted to a new area occupied most of first two days but I quickly learned the ropes of taking the metro and how to find the stores I need or ATM machines, which are everywhere. Jet lag takes it toll so I definitely have appreciated the siesta tradition, and as soon as I get my energy up, I can’t wait to explore more of beautiful Barcelona!

¡Hasta luego!
