I’ve been wandering the streets of Barcelona for a few weeks now, and I can absolutely say that Grácia is my favorite part of Barcelona to escape to. I’m not being biased either, since this is the barrio that I live in.
Barcelona is one of the most visited cities in the world, constantly streaming with tourists along the more popular areas of Las Ramblas, the Barri Gòtic, or the beach. Grácia is a quaint and trendy neighborhood where you can take a breather in from the constant surge of tourists:
1) Wander down the streets of Grácia and you’ll stumble upon countless restaurants, ice cream shops, local shops, lively plazas, bars, architectural buildings, and charming café’s. In fact, I’m currently sipping on a cup of coffee and eating a Serrano ham sandwich at the Café Del Teatre while typing up this blog post.
2) Can’t get enough of Antoni Gaudí’s artistic revelations? Witness nature prescribed into architecture with Park Güell. Take a hike around the surrounding park area to capture stunning views of Barcelona and purchase inexpensive souvenirs from the street vendors.
3) Still can’t get enough of Gaudi’s creations? Check out Casa Vicens, marked as a UNESCO World Heritage Site of the “Works of Antoni Gaudi” in 2005. Observe the unique floral tiles and the Moorish influence. Soon you’ll begin to get a good sense of Gaudi’s unique style.4) And surely, if you are in Grácia during mid-August, be sure to check out Grácia’s street festival, the Festa Major de Grácia to witness the eclectic and vivacious decorations of the streets!
