If you were to sum up your Barcelona experience in one to two words, what would you say? My Barcelona Experience is…

Inspiring Culture

Explain why you chose those words.

The art and culture of Catalonia has depth and breadth, from paleolithic times to today. The citizens of Barcelona maintain their rich traditions despite the influx of visitors like myself. It is wonderful to share this part of Spain for a while.

What was your favorite place to eat in Barcelona? Favorite food?

El Cafeto!

What is you favorite place in Catalunya? Why?

I loved the apartment that Barcelona SAE arranged for my wife and I. Not only was it our “home,” but it was within walking distance of everything we needed. As far as my favorite place within Catalunya, I most enjoyed experiencing the Roman aqueduct outside of Tarragona – El Midol. Why? The site is pleasant and natural. Best of all, those Roman stone structures are impressive – their empire deserves plenty of respect from us in the 21st Century.

Is there a site in Barcelona that you would recommend to future students that may be a little more “off the beaten path”?

Students should see El Museo Etnologico on Montjuic. The museum is free and covers generations of Catalonian culture.

If you had one perfect day in Barcelona where would you go, and what would you do?

I would take my wife to Tibidabo to see the Museum of Automata. Later, we would eat at the great restaurant on Tibidabo that Clara (Barcelona SAE’s Academics and Customized Programs Coordinator) introduced us to.

Now we just need to make this happen…please?! 😉

What is one piece of advice that you have for future students coming to Barcelona?

Watch for cars, buses, scooters and bicycles at all times. At the same time, remember that all those funny corners in the Eixample keep Barcelona open and bright.

What do you think makes Barcelona unique?

Barcelona was life-changing for ALL of my students!
