If you were to sum up your Barcelona experience in one to two words, what would you say? My Barcelona Experience is…

Everlasting Memory

Explain why you chose those words.

After coming back to Washington, I often remember how much of an amazing time I had while in Barcelona. In the three months that I was there, I created more memories than in any other given year. I met a lot of friends, discovered a lot of amazing places, tasted a ton of delicious food, got to have some amazing experiences and beautiful views. I’ll never be able to fully let go of my time in Barcelona – it will forever be an everlasting memory.

What was your favorite place to eat in Barcelona? Favorite food?

My favorite place to eat at was the bakery – no one in specific, but all of them in general. One reason why I enjoyed the bakery is because there aren’t any like that in the US. When I went to a bakery in Barcelona, I could always sense the smell culture and traditions. I also enjoyed the bakeries because it wasn’t expensive, and it had a great variety of delicious foods. Plus, I could easily find one anywhere and could always see the food – so I knew exactly what I was buying.

As far as my favorite food,  I enjoyed a lot of it…but if I had to choose one I would go with paella. Why? Just because it’s delicious! 🙂

If you had one perfect day in Barcelona where would you go, and what would you do?

In the morning I would go a local bakery for breakfast. During the day I would meet up with my friends and go kayaking and snorkeling. Later I would have a picnic lunch at the beach with my friends and after lunch we would go parasailing. I would then go have some tapas with my friends in an Indian/Arabic restaurant near the Port Olimpica Beach before heading over to Parc Güell. When the sun would be setting I would go to a roof top restaurant to eat and watch the sunset. After that I would go to La Pedrera with some friends, and to round out the day I would stop by Place Espana y tamarlo con calma.

What is one piece of advice that you have for future students coming to Barcelona?

My Advice:

  1. Don’t be afraid to be alone!
  2. Find your group of like-minded people.
  3. Let go of your life back home and enjoy the moment you are in.
  4. Be open minded and ready for anything
